Vans and commercial vehicles see rise in sales
Sales of vans and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose in April according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Trader (SMMT).

Registrations of LCVs increased by 4.4 per cent last month and were up by 5.9 per cent to 396,524 compared to 2002.

Vans also saw an increase in registrations and were up 0.5 per cent for the month with an increase of 3.3 per cent to 340,088 from the same time in 2002, which may interest van insurance customers.

Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said: "Buoyant truck registrations are welcome and strong order books suggest the trend will continue through the year."

He added that van registrations are up too, though more modestly and expects to "see the order and registration pattern continue" in the next few months on the back of strong demand.

The news comes as it was reported this month that vans with additional factory fittings are experiencing increased demand from buyers, according to Manheim.
